Our story

We started this blog in 2014 to keep our families updated on a road trip across the US. It became something neither of us planned — a full-time life on the road, a van conversion in the Scottish Highlands, 43 countries, and a cat who has now crossed an ocean.

Jason is a physiotherapist-turned-photographer whose work has been featured in NatGeo, World Atlas, and Stanford.edu. I’m Heather — I handle the writing, the content, and making sure we actually eat real food on the road. Together we’ve been doing this for over a decade — not as a side project, but as the whole thing.

Where to begin

You’re here for vanlife

We’ve lived in a van since 2016 — from a rusted transit in the Scottish Highlands to a self-converted minivan across the American West. We know what works.

You’re planning a trip

Firsthand guides from 40+ countries. We only write about places we’ve actually been — and stayed long enough to have real opinions.

You’re into photography

10 years of professional travel photography, published worldwide. Jason breaks it all down in plain language — whatever camera you’re shooting on.

You want to live differently

Maybe you don’t have a trip planned. Maybe you’re just tired of the script. That’s exactly where we were — and what this whole thing is built on.

Stay in the loop

New guides, honest trip recaps, and gear we’re actually using — straight to your inbox. No spam, no filler, unsubscribe anytime.

Unsubscribe anytime.

We know there are a million travel blogs. We’re not trying to be all of them. We’re just two people and a cat, trying to document this life as honestly as we can — in the hope that your version of “differently” feels a little more within reach.
