Cycling Samuel P. Taylor to San Francisco
The final day on the ride! What a swarm of crazy emotions!
Cycling into San Francisco, we really got to take in all the feels with each stroke of the pedal. It was a mix of excitement, sadness, and feeling accomplished.. with a bit of disbelief that we actually cycled all the way from Seattle to San Francisco!
The two things I remember most about cycling Samuel P. Taylor to San Francisco are getting to the bridge and hoping for a picture, and a lady took our photo without the bridge even in it! haha… And then all the climbs, steeper than the entire trip down to San Francisco while we were getting to our friend’s place!
Still can’t believe the trip of a lifetime is coming to an end today!

Day 23: The final hurrah!
Today we started the day a little slower, leaving around 10 am. It was nice though because we met a nice couple who had come into the park for the night from San Francisco and shared a couple of laughs and some coffee with. They gave us some pointers and advice on what to see and do while we had a couple of days in San Francisco before heading off to see the grandparents and attend a wedding in Sacramento the following weekend.
The journey into the city was something special for us. It allowed us to look back and reflect on all the miles that had passed. We are so thankful for all the memories we got to share with each other along the way. It was definitely something that wasn’t easy and that we both couldn’t have been able to do on our own.
But with undertaking such a monumental achievement of cycling from Seattle to San Francisco on our road bikes completely unsupported, it yielded some kind of self-achievement that nothing we have ever done before. Nothing else compares to it.
Will we do it again?
Is this something that we want to do right away again? No! But in the future doing the exact same route or something different.
YES! A thousand times, YES!
We wouldn’t change a single moment of this journey for anything. We met some incredible people that will most certainly be lifelong friends and we can’t wait for what our future has for us! Next stop, Scotland… well in January 2016 that is!
Mileage for the day was 34.03 and elevation was 2,281 feet. Our total distance for the tour is 1,062.19 miles.

- Sausalito is a really cute town if you want to spend some time there before crossing over the bridge!
- San Francisco is famous for its seafood, and in particular, their clam chowder, don’t forget to grab some!
- Be sure to book your place to stay in advance for San Francisco! It’s a popular city and isn’t too budget-friendly!
