Where To Stay In Joseph Oregon | The Kokanee Inn

When researching where to stay in Joseph Oregon, the Kokanee Inn stopped us dead in our tracks. And, after wrapping up a two-night stay at the Kokanee Inn in Joseph, Oregon, we honestly can’t recommend a stay here enough.

The Kokanee Inn reminds us how accommodations used to be, it’s definitely the place to stay in Joseph, Oregon.

During our stay at the Kokanee Inn, instead of feeling like a number adding to a bank account, we felt truly valued and cared for. A true traveler’s paradise tucked away in Oregon’s best-kept secret, the town of Joseph.

I’m not sure I can truly explain the welcoming atmosphere of the Madeline (the owner), the other guests, and the entire vibe of the place.

We truly felt like we were back in Europe traveling to a historic bed and breakfast, where customers are more important than dollar signs, and all the owner wants is for you to truly enjoy yourself.

Why You Should Stay At The Kokanee Inn

Homemade Breakfast Every Morning

It’s truly a rare find to find homemade breakfast these days at accommodations. Shoot, even finding a continental breakfast offered at accommodations is hard to find.

But at the Kokanee Inn, each morning you wake up to a homemade breakfast from Madeline, the owner of the inn. And these homemade breakfasts are divine.

Think, huevos rancheros, frittatas, lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes — you get the idea. These homemade breakfasts are a fantastic way to start the day!

Free Drinks And Snacks Available All Day

A fridge stocked with drinks. Tea, water, and coffee on the shelf. An ice machine. Snack baskets. Madeline has really gone above and beyond with providing for her guests.

It was so nice to come back to the inn after a hot day out, and have a bubbly water in a wine glass out on the deck.

Mulitple Lounge Areas To Sit Back And Relax

Speaking of having a bubbly water on the deck, there are multiple lounge areas both upstairs and downstairs offering space to sit outside and enjoy the mountain views.

Our room, the Strawberry Mountain Suite, came with a private fenced seating area perfect for those traveling with pets. We really enjoyed sitting in that area with Georgie without worrying about her getting out.

There was a full house both nights we were at the Kokanee Inn, and we found ample outdoor space for all to enjoy! Oh, there are even a couple of propane fire pits, which were lovely during the cooler evenings!

Two Pet Friendly Rooms With Outdoor Access

While the entire inn isn’t pet-friendly, there are two rooms that are. And they just so happen to be the two rooms that have outdoor private entrances.

This is perfect for those traveling with pets and those who don’t like pets around them.

The Strawberry Mountain Suite has a private fenced-in area, making it especially great for those traveling with dogs.

The second pet-friendly room is The Cabin. This also has private access, but is a smaller room, only accommodating two people.

It’s worth noting that there is an inn dog. The owner has a dog that comes with her to the inn in the morning while she’s there making breakfast and cleaning. If you aren’t a dog person, you should know the dog is in the kitchen or out in the dining area, roaming with the guests while they eat.

I’m sure Madeline would be fine making other arrangements for her pup if you let her know you’re not comfortable with the dog roaming around or in the kitchen.

Located Right Between Downtown And The Lake

While the breakfast and the cozy atmosphere guests talked about at the Kokanee Inn is what drew us to the inn, we found the location truly can’t be beat.

Located right in between the lake and downtown Joseph, it’s walking distance from both. And the views of the surrounding mountains from the deck and rooms are amazing!

Right across from the inn there’s a road that leads directly to Knight’s Pond. An absolutely dreamy place to catch reflection views that not many people know about.

Free Bike Rentals For All Guests

The free bike rentals couldn’t have come at better timing for us. Just a few weeks before our stay at the Kokanee Inn, our front wheels were stolen from both our mountain bikes.

At the Kokanee Inn, there are both mountain bikes and beach cruisers available to guests on a first come first serve basis. We took the beach cruisers out, but with no gears it was tricky going up the hill to the lake!

The addition of the free bike rentals again just shows that Madeline is all about creating an experience for you instead of just collecting your money for a stay.

I can’t remember the last time we were at a place that had free bike rentals, most of the time there’s some kind of charge.

Our Stay At The Kokanee Inn

We had an absolutely lovely two-night stay at the Kokanee Inn. The only thing we wish were different was that our stay was longer!

We stayed in the Strawberry Mountain Suite, which is actually basically an entire apartment! We had our own fenced in yard, and a private entrance which was great with Georgie!

Although the room didn’t have any AC, with multiple fans and cooler evening temperatures, our stay at the inn was super comfortable.

While we stayed at the Kokanee Inn as guests of Madeline’s, all opinions in this post and our love for the inn are truly our own. Multiple times during our stay we looked at each other and talked about how we felt we were back in Europe, staying at a proper bed and breakfast!

Book your room at the Kokanee Inn and experience the feelings and amazing breakfast for yourself!
