Fish tacos in Puerto Vallarta are a great lunchtime treat. They’re not as heavy as the traditional evening tacos in PV, and it’s nice to eat something other than red meat now and again!
The best fish tacos in Puerto Vallarta are served super fresh, with homemade tortillas, and sauces that make you drool just by themselves!
We visited a handful of fish taco stands while living in Puerto Vallarta, and are sharing the best and the not-so-great ones too.

Fish Tacos Puerto Vallarta Things to Know
- Fish tacos are traditionally served late morning through mid-afternoon. You won’t find them in the evenings.
- Most taco stands have a hand washing station! Use it before you eat!
- Adding lime is a great way to kill any bacteria that may be on your food.. plus it’s super yummy! Douse your fish (especially if it’s ceviche) in lime to limit the risk of getting sick.

We’ve visited Bicho Marisqueria more times than we can count. The fish tacos here are fantastic, and Mario, the owner always has something new on the menu.
This fish taco stand is located in 5 de Diciembre, right on the corner of Highway 200 and Argentina Street.
There’s a handwashing station right inside the park, and chairs and small stands to put your food on here.

Time and time again we find ourselves returning to Bicho for fish tacos. The batter the fish is fried in is a sourdough batter with oats, flaxseed, rice and corn flour.
And their tortillas.. they’re homemade and not your average tortilla. Mario makes chocolate tortillas, beetroot tortillas, and even banana and turmeric tortillas.
We’ve had oyster mushroom tacos, fish egg tacos, calamari tacos, and fish tacos here, and everything has been delicious!
They even have super yummy sauces to put on top that are unlike other taco stands in Puerto Vallarta.
Tacos de pescado at Bicho Marisqueria are an absolute must.. and dare we say, they’re even the best fish tacos in Puerto Vallarta.
Tacos Susybel

- 35 MXN pesos per fish taco
- 40 MXN pesos per shrimp taco
- 115 MXN pesos for three fish tacos and agua fresca
- 125 MXN pesos for three shrimp tacos and agua fresca
Taco Susybel is a fantastic fish taco stand right next to Ley in the 5 de Diciembre neighborhood of Puerto Vallarta.
This taco stand is always busy with locals, and it’s for a good reason!
The price is right here for the three tacos and agua fresca!

The shrimp and fish tacos at Susybel Tacos are absolutely loaded with toppings! They serve the tacos with a mix of veg on top, and then there are like eight different types of salsas to put on top.
The salsas here range from mild to an extra spicy mango-habanero.. but they’re all fantastic!
The women who run Susybel’s are super friendly, and they’re always happy to help make everything extra perfect!
Taco Susybel serves their tacos on homemade tortillas, freshly pressed and cooked to order, and always has really good agua fresca too.
We recommend the three shrimp tacos and water of the day meal here! You won’t be disappointed!
Oh! And for those that don’t do seafood, they have banana and avocado tacos! Both are also fried and look great!
Ricas Tostadas Y Baratas
Very Popular Amongst the Locals

Opening Times | Monday – Saturday | 11:00am – 7:00pm
Expected Price | 20 MXN per tostada

- 150 MXN for Gringo pricing for tostada and mixed seafood cocktail
- 15-25 MXN pesos per tostada within reviews online
- 50 MXN pesos per seafood cocktail online reviews — not for our gringo prices
When there’s a line and a bunch of locals around, you’ve got to stop at a place to try it! And while Ricas Tostadas y Baratas isn’t necessarily fish tacos, the fish tostadas are a must-try!
At Ricas Tostadas y Baratas, you can get marlin tostadas, octopus tostadas, ceviche, or shrimp tostadas.
They also offer a seafood cocktail which can be served warm or cold.

The seafood at Ricas Tostadas y Baratas is super yummy. We had a ceviche tostada and a seafood cocktail.
We were a little bummed though, once we went to pay, they charged us exorbitant prices and way more than what the locals were charged.
With that said, if you pay attention to what the locals are paying and then just offer the money, you may not have the same experience.
Every single time we’ve passed by this small taco stand, there are masses of people around waiting for their seafood dishes.
The taco stand is outside, but they also have an indoor area where they keep more of the food and do some of the prep work.
Mariscos Rafa
Popular Spot in Romantic Zone
Coordinates | 20.604946, -105.235057
Opening Times | Monday – Saturday | 12:00pm – 5:00pm
Expected Price | 24 MXN per fish taco

Prices at Mariscos Rafa
- 24 MXN pesos per fish taco
- 20 MXN pesos per ceviche tostada
We walked by Mariscos Rafa multiple times with it being closed. In fact, our first time in Puerto Vallarta, every single time we passed Mariscos Rafa it was closed.
A lot of blogs include visiting Mariscos Rafa as some of the best fish tacos in Puerto Vallarta, so we were super eager to try it for ourselves our second time in PV.

After all the hype we read about Mariscos Rafa, we were super stoked when the stand was finally open.
However, similar to our experience with Sonoritas al pastor tacos, these tacos in Puerto Vallarta did not live up to the hype.
After having the fish tacos we had in the 5 de Diciembre neighborhood, these lacked flavor and with the tortillas just being basic store-bought tortillas, they weren’t that great.
We did try the marlin chile relleno, and enjoyed having something unique and different than what we’ve seen on other menus! We also enjoyed the ceviche tostada — so we’d say go for one of those if you visit here!
The Best Fish Tacos Puerto Vallarta
As we mentioned in the beginning.. Bicho has time and time again proven to be the best fish taco in Puerto Vallarta. The sourdough batter and the unique spin on the homemade tortillas really blow this place out of the water.
We recommend visiting fish taco stands earlier rather than later. This way, you’ll be sure to get fresh fish and not have the end of the day leftovers!
Remember, this is Mexico, so some of these places won’t hold true to the opening and closing times — so be prepared to visit elsewhere as well.
