Puerto Vallarta breweries are all super different, not only in their beers, but also in the brewery decor and feel. We can say that as far as experience goes, if you’re looking for something special, Los Cuento Brewery in Puerto Vallarta is by far the best brewery experience.
However, looking for the best beer? Los Muertos takes the cake on that. They have so many different varieties of beer — but their serrano-infused chili ale is probably the best!
We’ve broken up this post into Puerto Vallarta breweries by zone, with links to the location and websites of the breweries under “find it here” and each bulleted point!
Find the brewery in Puerto Vallarta that will best match what you’re looking for, and go enjoy a refreshing pint for us!
El Granero Brewery
- Location on Google | 20.6045, -105.23447
- El Granero Website
This was originally Jason’s favorite brewery in Puerto Vallarta, until we found Yambak, but the beer here is still great.
El Granero Brewery was the first brewery in Puerto Vallarta that we visited. Honestly, what pulled us in was the aesthetics of the outside. Up to this point, we had only drank beer from the grocery stores or convenience shops, and eating out consisted of taco stands.

When we saw El Granero we got all the date night feels, and had to pop in for a beer… which then turned into a pizza too!
This brewery is actually quite interesting, as it doesn’t actually brew its own beer. Instead, it serves all of the Los Muertos Beers, and it actually has the same pizza as the neighboring Los Muertos. However, it’s a completely different atmosphere than Los Muertos Brewery.
We recommend trying the Anillo de Fuego. It’s a serrano-infused ale, and it’s one of the most interesting beers I’ve ever had.. and we’ve had a lot of beer!
During happy hour, beers are only $45 pesos! A great price for a brew!
Fair warning here, we both got sick from this brewery, twice. We think it’s from the cheese on the pizza, but honestly, aren’t sure. It wasn’t food poisoning or anything, however, we both spent more time on the loo the following day than any day prior each time we tried their pizza — even with all the street food we ate.

Los Muertos Brewery
- Romantic Zone Location on Google | 20.60363, -105.23486
- Las Glorias Location on Google | 20.63115, -105.2264
- Los Muertos Website
Los Muertos Brewery has two different locations in Puerto Vallarta. They are both located on the corner of buildings and offer seating with big open windows to the outdoors.
The Los Muertos in the Romantic Zone has an upstairs area with seating and a lot of tall bar-style tables downstairs.
The Los Muertos in the Las Glorias area of Puerto Vallarta is a single-story building, pictured below, and is on a super busy street, making it not the most enjoyable place to grab a beer.
With that said, they do also have a room that offers a quieter atmosphere.
Both Los Muertos serve pizza and have $45 peso happy hour prices. But to be honest, with the prices being the same as El Granero and the food and drinks being the same as well, we’d recommend El Granero as the place to try the Los Muertos craft beer.

Monzón Brewing Co.
- Google Maps Location | 20.60294, -105.23622
- Monzón Brewing Co. Website
Okay, this brewery is so fun. There are board games and cards, and a very welcoming, chill atmosphere. Both bartenders were extremely nice and made the entire experience at Monzón Brewery fantastic.

The overall feel at Monzón Brewing Co. is very relaxed and inviting. It’s a smaller brewery, however, not as small as some of the others on this list!
Had we not needed to catch the last bus out of town, we would have stayed and had a couple more beers and played games well into the night. After one beer each, we had to leave to catch our bus, and truly one beer there only left us wanting more.

YamBak Brewery
- Google Maps Location Off Malecon | 20.61146, -105.23354
- YamBak Brewery Website
We’ve been to a lot of different breweries, literally all over the world, and Yambak is our favorite beer and brewery outside of Belgian Beer. The beer here is absolutely incredible and the brewery itself is super fun.

YamBak is really like a hidden gem in Puerto Vallarta on the weekdays, with awesome happy hour pricing on things like margaritas and certain house beers (differs by the week). They even have a pretty epic rooftop area that you can watch sunset from during certain times of the year.

We went to YamBak more times than I can remember, and each time the beer was fabulous! We preferred the relaxed atmosphere during the week over the bumping party atmosphere on weekends — and found ourselves working from YamBak with a beer in hand on a couple of occasions — their wifi is great!

Beers at YamBak run from 65-100 per pint, and their happy hour changes by the day, but is as noted below.
- 2 for Tuesdays – house pints two for one – only certain pints (ask which one from the bartender) and tequila, margaritas, mezcal, Redbull
- Growler Wednesday from 120 per litre
- Thursday medium pizza and a house pint 180 MXN
Los Cuentos Brewery
- Google Maps Location | 20.63514, -105.22986
- Los Cuentos Brewery Website
Los Cuentos Brewery is by far our second favorite of the five Puerto Vallarta breweries for the overall experience. I really liked their stout, and while Jay liked his beer, it wasn’t his favorite in beer in Puerto Vallarta.
However, the taste of the beer aside, the experience Los Cuentos offers makes it the best brewery in Puerto Vallarta!

Walking into Los Cuentos Brewery, you’ll quickly note how small the brewery is. There are only four tables and a handful of bar seats wrapped around the bar area. But the intimate atmosphere is just what Los Cuentos is all about.
Los Cuentos means the tales, or the stories, in English. And their beer is all about that. Each brew has a story behind it and is all about the history of the region. In the brewery/taproom, you’ll see posters of the different kinds of animals behind the stories. While each bottled beer has a QR code to scan that brings the story of the beer to life.

The staff at Los Cuentos are absolutely phenomenal and immediately make you feel welcome and treat you like family.
One of the best parts of the brewery is the food pairing. Each pour of a Los Cuentos beer comes with a tapa, or side dish, that the chef has paired with the beer. Everything we tried was fantastic, and the pairings were all done perfectly!
Be sure to check out their website for happy hour times and deals on the weekends!

El Terrible Brewing Co.
- Google Maps Location | 20.65775, -105.21278
- El Terrible Brewing Co. Website
There’s a saying about El Terrible Brewing Co, that their brewers must be super confident in their beers to literally name themselves “The Terrible” and it actually holds true!

Unfortunately, when we tried to visit El Terrible Brewing Co, they were closed, so we can’t say much about the brewery itself. However, we did try one of their beers while at Los Cuentos and it was really good.
If you can’t make it to the El Terrible Brewery, don’t worry, they sell their beers in stores throughout Puerto Vallarta.

Puerto Vallarta Breweries to the North
The following breweries are not in the actual city of Puerto Vallarta, however, are in the region of PV, so we included them in this list. Both are easily accessible by bus from Las Glorias or really anywhere in PV that has “Bucerias” or “San Pancho” or “Salulita” on the bus window!
Cervercia Buclas
- Google Map Location in Bucerias | 20.75675, -105.33272
- Buclas Brewery Website
When we heard of Cervercia Buclas, we were super excited to go and try it out. In fact, we made a special trip to Bucerias just to try their beer. But shoot, when we got to the brewery, everything went downhill.

The beer is extremely overpriced, starting at 90 MXN for a 16oz pour… right to the line. And, in our opinion, the beer isn’t that great and the service is awful… for not just us but multiple other people there when we were.
We, along with multiple other tables, had to wait over 20 minutes for our checks, and then most of the checks were completely wrong with charges for things that were never even ordered!
There’s live music at Buclas, and they have a happy hour, however, it was different in person than it was online when we showed up for happy hour, so be sure to check their website or even call for a confirmed time!

YamBak Brewery Sayulita
- Google Maps Location in Sayulita | 20.86867, -105.44088
- Yambak Brewery Website
The YamBak Sayulita location is actually the original YamBak brewery. Their Puerto Vallarta brewery location is their second location, both offering the same beers and happy hour options.

YamBak Sayulita is located right in the town square and has some great bar style seating lining the entire edge of the brewery. We really enjoyed people watching while sipping on a drink here.
After our first beers, we both had margaritas from the happy hour — with tajine instead of salt. And we definitely recommend them! In fact, we both had margs to go as well! They’re strong and tasty, and the perfect drink to bring to any of the beaches in Sayulita.

Cervecería Artesanal San Pancho
- Google Map Location In San Pancho, North of PV | 20.90136, -105.41253
- Cervecería Artesanal San Pancho Website
Boy, oh boy, it makes me sad to know there was a brewery in San Pancho that we didn’t visit. Our time in San Pancho was fantastic, and I wouldn’t change the day for anything, but I do wish we had more time to go back and visit San Pancho again to be able to visit the San Pancho Brewery.
The owners of the San Pancho Brewery are from Oregon (hey-o our home state) and pride themselves in brewing Oregon-style craft beers.. and we’re dying to know if they live up to the Oregon expectations!
Bahia de Banderas | Permanently Closed
- Google Maps Location In Bucerias | 20.7529, -105.32126
- Bahia de Banderas Website

This was my (Heather’s) least favorite brewery out of all the breweries in Puerto Vallarta. I didn’t even get a beer here because I didn’t like any of them. They were overpriced and small, and the brewery as a whole was just not it for me.
With that said, Jason really liked his beer, and we went back twice for beer and shrimp tacos! Their shrimp tacos were really good!
All the seating here is outdoors, some of it covered for when it rains, and there are games and complimentary peanuts on the tables! Loads of ex-pats visit this brewery, which is maybe why I didn’t care for it much!
If you visit Bahia de Banderas Brewery, be sure to bring cash, as they do not accept cards.
From what I’ve read, this brewery is now permanently closed.
