Redrock Falls may just be one of the easiest hikes in the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park. It’s a short distance with little elevation gain, but astounding views.
Starting at the ever-popular Swiftcurrent Pass Trailhead, you hike along the Swiftcurrent Pass Trail for just shy of two miles, catching views of the surrounding mountain peaks and two lakes before ending at Redrock Falls.

The Redrock Falls Hike
Hiking to Redrock Falls, your breath will be taken away time and time again. The views of the surrounding peaks area just incredible. And shoot, even the tree-covered path getting to the waterfall is amazing.
Along the trail, you have the chance to see all sorts of wildlife, including moose and bears! Be sure to pack your bear spray in an easy-to-grab location! If you want to see moose, they frequently visit Fishercap Lake.. a short offshoot of the Redrock Falls trail!
The Redrock Falls hike has very minimal elevation gain. In fact, it’s a great place to run if you want to go for a run in Glacier National Park. That’s how we visited Redrock Falls when we were in the Many Glacier area, hence the lack of photos here.

How long is the hike to Redrock Falls?
The hike takes about 40 minutes one way, so plan for 1.5 – 2 hours for this hike. Adding extra time for moose sightings and swimming if the weather permits!
Where are Redrock Falls?
The Redrock Falls are located in the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park in Montana. They are about two miles up the Swiftcurrent Pass Trail, directly to the left of the trail at 1.8 miles in.
What do I need to pack for Redrock Falls?
We have some more packing suggestions at the end of this post. But really, all you truly need is water, sunscreen, and some bear spray!
What wildlife do I need to watch for at Redrock Falls?
Redrock Falls is located in Glacier National Park, you’re in Bear Country! That means bears are in the area, and while they’re often up higher on the Swiftcurrent Pass trail and other trails in the area, there’s always the chance they’re along this part too! You also have a great chance of seeing moose along the Redrock Trail. Both Redrock Lake and Fishercap Lake are prime moose habitats!
Can I bring my dog with me to Redrock Falls?
NO! There is a no pets on the trails policy on every trail in Glacier National Park and honestly, in most national parks in the US. You can have your dog in the parking lots, picnic areas, and campgrounds. But they are not allowed on the trails. Please be a responsible dog owner and follow this rule. It keeps not only you and your dog safe, but other people on the trail safe as well.

Getting To Redrock Falls Trailhead
Redrock Falls is located in the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park. You will need to have a National Park Pass to enter this area. Learn about the National Park Pass here.
Redrock Falls is located along the Swiftcurrent Pass Trail, and the Swiftcurrent Pass Trailhead is the beginning of this hike.
Park at the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn and the trailhead is on the far end of the parking lot, opposite of where you drive in.
Keep in mind, this is a very busy area of Glacier National Park. There are many people coming in for day hiking here, and all of the parking in the area fills up very fast! Plan on arriving early.
It’s also worth noting, that the road getting to the Many Glacier entrance of Glacier National Park is not fully paved. It’s a long dirt road, that has a lot of washboarding happening. Don’t worry, the views make up for it though!
Timed Entry Permits
In the high season, you will need a timed entry permit to come into this part of Glacier National Park. You can learn more about the timed entry here, or visit after mid-September to avoid the timed entry and the crowds too!
Accommodation and Camping Near Many Glacier Area
Camping in Many Glacier Area
For those looking to camp, the Many Glacier Campground is the only option in the area. This campground is on a reservation only basis. The campground is a fully functioning campground for most of the summer, however, come mid-September, it switches to primitive camping.
During the primitive camping season, mid-September through October 31st, there is a smaller amount of sites available, no running water, and only ONE toilet for the entire campground.
With that said, it’s only 10 USD a night, and is still a great place to stay!
During the primitive season, reservations open up on rec.gov one day in advance at 8 AM Mountain Time, and are reservable up to three nights at a time.

Hotels in Many Glacier Area
Staying in the national park is a real treat. There are two hotel stays available from mid-June to mid-September.

Outside of the accommodation within the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park, you can find the closest accommodation out of the park in the town of Babb.
