Jason’s Expertise

I’ve been traveling internationally since 2011, when I took my first trip abroad while studying at Oregon State University. That five-month journey took me across Europe and East Africa—through Greece, Italy, Scandinavia, the Baltics, Russia, Western Europe, and Tanzania—and shaped how I approach travel to this day.

Since then, I’ve visited 46 countries, lived in five, and even owned vehicles in three—experiences that have given me a deeper, more practical understanding of what it really means to travel long-term and live on the road.

I later earned my Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland. While I’ve stepped away from practicing clinically (for now), that experience sharpened something more valuable than any single career path: the ability to learn quickly and adapt. That skill now fuels everything I do—from professional photography and storytelling to blog writing, SEO, and running ArboursAbroad.

At its core, ArboursAbroad is built on strong visual storytelling, consistent growth in monthly readership, and recognition through recent blog awards—all reflecting the work we’ve put into photography, writing, and the technical side of building a high-performing website.

And none of this happens alone. My wife and co-founder, Heather, plays a huge role behind the scenes—leading much of the website copy, SEO strategy, and content planning that keeps everything moving forward.
